Mahua Moitra is an Indian politician and Member of Parliament from the Krishnanagar constituency of West Bengal. She was born on June 5, 1975, in Kolkata, West Bengal. She quickly rose through the ranks of the party and was appointed as the National Secretary of the party in 2013. In 2016, she was elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from the Karimpur constituency of West Bengal. During her tenure as an MLA, she served as the Deputy Leader of the AITC in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Mahua Moitra contested from the Krishnanagar constituency of West Bengal and won with a thumping majority. She defeated her nearest rival, Kalyan Chaubey of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), by a margin of more than 63,000 votes. She is currently serving as a Member of Parliament in the 17th Lok Sabha.
