Tim David

Tim David is an Australian cricketer who has made a name for himself with his performances in domestic T20 competitions and in various T20 leagues around the world. David is known for his big-hitting ability and his prowess as a finisher in T20 cricket. He made his debut in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2021, playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

Early Career:

Tim David was born on December 14, 1996, in Hong Kong. He grew up playing cricket in Singapore and made his debut for the Singapore national cricket team in 2016. He made an immediate impact for Singapore, scoring a century on debut in a List A game against Papua New Guinea. He continued to perform consistently for Singapore and was named their Player of the Year in 2018.

David’s performances in domestic T20 competitions caught the eye of various T20 leagues around the world. He made his debut in the Big Bash League (BBL) for the Hobart Hurricanes in 2019 and impressed with his batting, scoring 284 runs in 13 matches at a strike rate of 147.92. He also played in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) for the Jamaica Tallawahs and in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for Lahore Qalandars.

IPL Career:

Tim David was picked up by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL auction for the 2021 season. He was signed for his base price of INR 20 lakhs (approximately USD 27,000). David made his IPL debut on April 22, 2021, in a match against the Rajasthan Royals.

David played a total of seven matches for RCB in the 2021 season, scoring 88 runs at a strike rate of 158.18. He played a vital role in RCB’s win against the Kolkata Knight Riders on May 3, scoring an unbeaten 27 off just 15 balls to help his team chase down a target of 92. David’s performance in that match earned him the Player of the Match award.

David’s most significant contribution to RCB in the 2021 season was his fielding. He took five catches in the seven matches he played and was a livewire on the field. He also bowled two overs in the tournament, conceding 20 runs without taking a wicket.

Tim David has been a consistent performer in domestic T20 competitions around the world. Apart from the BBL, CPL, and PSL, he has also played in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), the Hong Kong T20 Blitz, and the Singapore Premier League (SPL).

David’s most significant domestic T20 performance came in the 2020-21 season of the BBL, where he scored 363 runs in 14 matches at a strike rate of 152.94. He was the third-highest run-scorer in the tournament and was instrumental in helping the Hobart Hurricanes reach the playoffs.

David has also had success in the CPL, where he has scored 409 runs in 24 matches at a strike rate of 141.99. He was a part of the Jamaica Tallawahs team that won the CPL in 2020.

In the SPL, David has been a dominant force with both bat and ball. He has scored over 1,000 runs and taken more than 50 wickets.
